Classroom Expectations
Hello and Welcome to Team 8Y Science!
I am so excited to begin the 2017-2018 school year. This year will be my 23dr year (oh My!! Time flies when you are having fun) to teach science, and I am certain and anxious to make it my very best. We will explore and learn about a variety of fun and fascinating topics in science. We all have our favorite areas but we will cover a variety of topics to include, physics, chemistry, astronomy, space cycles, weather and climate, plate tectonics and ecology all using an Earth systems science approach. When not at school, I love to spend time with my family. You will often find me outdoors on the weekends and cheering my children, Cade and Morgan, on at their various sports activities. I am looking forward to a great school year learning together!

Web Page.: Parents and students can keep up with homework and other important information by my weebly page at www.mrsspradling.weebly.com. Please go to the Bush Web Page and navigate to the faculty page. Make my page a bookmark and stay pro active in being successful in class. Daily agendas, homework and warm-ups are uploaded daily. You will be able to find copies of class notes, study guides and tutorial videos on my web page. My web page is easily accessible via parent portal as well.
Parent portal is a “must” tool for students and parents. Students can always know where they stand in each and every class at all points during a grading period. Give the students the password to make checking parent portal part of their weekly responsibility routine.

Attendance and Make-Up work:
I expect students to be in class daily, however, we know that absences occur due to illness. When a student is absent, they are to check the agenda book in class to see what class assignments were missed as well as homework assignments that need to be done. It is the student’s responsibility to obtain and turn in all makeup work in accordance with student handbook policies. I have a make-up work procedures poster to facilitate this process.
Late Work: Late work will be handled thru our district late work policy. A 20% deduction from the total grade earned will be taken for late assignments. Late assignments will be accepted until the material has been tested or within a 3 week grading period (which ever comes first).
Interventions: Success is a must! Failure is not an option. Any student not passing tests or quizzes will be required to complete test corrections and take a re-test. These reteach and interventions will take place during the AIM period or morning coaching if AIM is not an option. Failure at the 9 week grading period will result in a schedule change to ensure an AIM period.
Grading Policy:
40%- Tests, designated major labs and projects.
30%- Quizzes
30%- Daily/Class work/homework (drop the lowest grade)
Tutoring Times: 7:45-8:10 Passes are required for students to attend morning coaching.Tutoring is offered as needed after school. In general, I am available on all mornings . Test reviews will be held at 7:45 on the mornings of tests.
Class/Lab Rules:
I will:
1. Believe in you and your abilities.
2. Be of assistance
3. Begin engaging lessons promptly
4. Bend over backwards to help you succeed
You will:
1. Bring your positive attitude and supplies to class daily
2. Be prepared for class: on time, completed assignments, copying warm-up and agenda
3. Behave in accordance with the Bush Step Plan, District policy and lab safety rules
4. Be respectful to self, teacher, others and all property
Pre AP Science:
The Pre-AP science curriculum will include 4 homebased outside projects to occur 1 per nine weeks and count as a major test grade. The projects will pertain to the unit of study for that particular grading period. Our first project will be constructing a balloon racer during our force and motion unit the first nine weeks. More information to come.
Thank you for your cooperation with the above policies and procedures which are necessary for the success and safety of your child.
